About York University
York University is a public research university located in Toronto, Ontario, and Canada's fourth-largest university by enrollment. Established in 1959 as a non-denominational institution by the York University Act, it welcomed its first class of 76 students in September 1960 and became fully independent from the University of Toronto in 1965. Today, York operates across three main campuses in Canada — Keele, Glendon, and Markham — plus international campuses in Costa Rica and Hyderabad, India, serving over 55,000 students across 11 faculties. The university is home to the renowned Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Hall Law School, and maintains partnerships with over 340 international universities.
