About ScolaVault

We manually verify every scholarship we list. No scams. No dead links. Just real opportunities.

The Problem We're Solving

Every year, millions of students waste hundreds of hours applying for scholarships that don't exist, have already expired, or are outright scams. According to the FTC, scholarship scams cost students and families over $50 million annually in the United States alone.

The worst part? Most students don't realize they've been scammed until they've already paid "processing fees" or submitted sensitive personal information. By then, it's too late.

We built ScolaVault to fix this.

How It Started

📖

In 2023, our founder was an international student on the verge of dropping out. His tuition was due, his part-time job wasn't enough, and his home country's currency had just crashed against the dollar. He needed a scholarship — fast.

He spent 4 months applying for 30+ scholarships he found online. He got 2 replies. Both were automated rejections. One "opportunity" turned out to be a pyramid scheme that asked for $200 in "processing fees." Another had already closed — the deadline had passed 6 months earlier.

He was devastated. But instead of giving up, he started building.

What We Do Differently

We don't just scrape data from the internet. We actually verify every single opportunity.

🔍

Step 1: Discovery

We find scholarships from official sources — university websites, government portals, foundations, and verified sponsors. We never list opportunities from unknown or unverified sources.

Step 2: Manual Verification

Every scholarship is checked by a human. We verify the deadline, eligibility criteria, award amount, and sponsor legitimacy. If we can't confirm it directly on the sponsor's official website, we don't list it.

🔄

Step 3: Ongoing Updates

Scholarship deadlines change. Sponsors cancel programs. We re-check every listing regularly and remove anything that's expired or no longer available. You'll never find a dead link on our platform.

🚫

Step 4: Scam Detection

We have a strict "no scam" policy. If an opportunity asks for money to apply, asks for sensitive personal information upfront, or has any red flags, we flag and remove it immediately. We also warn our users about common scam patterns.

How to Spot a Scholarship Scam

We've identified 5 common red flags that indicate a scholarship is likely a scam. Share this with any student you know:

💸

1. Application Fees

Legitimate scholarships never charge you to apply. If they ask for a "processing fee," "application fee," or "deposit," it's a scam.

2. "Act Now" Pressure

Scammers create fake urgency. Phrases like "this offer expires in 24 hours" or "limited spots available" are designed to make you act without thinking.

🏆

3. Guaranteed Win

No legitimate scholarship can guarantee you'll win. If they promise you'll receive funding before you've even applied, it's a scam.

📧

4. Unsolicited Offers

If you receive an email offering you a scholarship you never applied for, be suspicious. Legitimate sponsors don't reach out randomly to offer free money.

🔗

5. Suspicious Links & Websites

Always check the URL. Legitimate scholarship websites end in .edu, .gov, or well-known .org domains. If the URL looks strange (e.g., "scholarship-helper.xyz") or the website has poor grammar and design, it's likely a scam.

✅ Our Promise: Every scholarship on ScolaVault has been manually checked against these red flags. If we wouldn't apply for it ourselves, we don't list it.

Why This Matters

For International Students

International students often pay 2-3x more in tuition than domestic students. Without scholarships, many simply can't afford to study abroad. We've seen too many brilliant students drop out because they couldn't find funding. We want to change that.

For First-Generation Students

First-generation college students often don't have family members who can guide them through the scholarship application process. They don't know what to look for, where to apply, or how to spot scams. We provide free guides and resources to level the playing field.

For Students in Developing Countries

Currency devaluation and economic instability make studying abroad increasingly difficult for students from developing nations. A fully funded scholarship can be life-changing — not just for the student, but for their entire family and community.
