About Royal Holloway University of London

Royal Holloway, University of London is a public research university with roots in two pioneering women's colleges: Bedford College, founded in 1849, and Royal Holloway College, founded by philanthropist Thomas Holloway and opened by Queen Victoria in 1886. Both colleges became constituent members of the University of London and merged in 1985 to form the present-day institution. Set on a 135-acre parkland campus in Egham, Surrey — just 40 minutes from central London — Royal Holloway is home to the iconic Victorian Founder's Building. The university offers 156 undergraduate and 40 postgraduate programs across six academic schools, with particular strengths in languages, physics, film production, and creative writing, and enrolls around 13,000 students, including a significant international population.
