UBA Foundation

UBA Foundation is the corporate social responsibility arm of United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA), one of Africa's largest pan-African financial services groups. Established in January 2004, it was the first foundation set up by a bank in Nigeria, and focuses on education, environment, economic empowerment, and special social projects across UBA's footprint of 20 African countries and beyond. Its flagship education initiatives include the National Essay Competition, targeted at senior secondary school students in Nigeria and other African countries, the Read Africa Project promoting literacy, and Special Education Initiatives providing scholarships to promising young Africans, alongside a partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation supporting entrepreneurship across the continent.
